As some of you know, we have had a whirlwind week with this new, developing baby! This is pretty detailed and I am by no means an expert with any of this, but I am explaining to the best of my ability.
Last week we went in for a sonogram because I had a little bleeding. I was supposed to be about 6.5 weeks pregnant according to my last period. However, the baby (or lack there of) alarmed them. There was nothing but an empty gestational sac. They did some blood work and basically said if my numbers were high, then it was probably going to result in a miscarriage since the numbers would not match the sono. Well, they were HIGH. Really high. Scott and I were devastated and pretty much came to terms that we were losing the baby. They wanted to do more blood work though to see if my numbers were rising. We got the news and they rose again!
So, today we went for a sonogram and there was a perfectly developing baby, just only 6 weeks, 4 days along!! :o) About a week less than we thought. The Dr said that I was still probably not regular from having Eleanor and just miscalculated when ovulation was (hence why we are pregnant - we were not calculating!) Also, they saw another empty sac and *think* it could have been a twin that did not develop. Crazy huh? We are perfectly happy with one healthy baby :0)
We are still very cautious, but excited and surprised all over again! We go back next Thursday for my first real, scheduled prenatal appointment! Please keep the "turkey" in your prayers. And thank you to all of our sweet friends and family! You have been so wonderful this past week with your prayers and support!
